Katey brought such gentle love and affection into our home, it's hard to realize she's gone after just a few short weeks. Katey was old, blind, deaf, and coping with a progressive neurological disease when her elderly owner died, leaving Katey without a home and at risk for being euthanized.
When we drove to another state to pick her up, she was covered in dried blood from countless flees. We stopped at a dog wash on the way home and when we dried her off, she seemed a different dog, suddenly come to life and happily wagging her tail.
As soon as we got home we let her explore the yard before introducing her to the other special-needs dogs and cats who live in our home as part of our family. Here she is making her first trip around the yard:
As soon as you'd come into a room, Katey would nuzzle up to you and follow you around wherever you went. If you sat down, she'd sit next to you. Twice she surprised me by somehow managing to find her way up onto the treadmill to walk with me awhile.
Here's Katey snoozing on the couch next to me:
Her time with us was much too short but we are so thankful she blessed us with her presence.
